Multi-Channel Pulse Amplitude Analyzer TUKAN 8k is a computer controlled device for running measurements and analysis of impulse spectra obtained
from ionized radiation detectors (scintillation or semiconductor). The analyzer can operate in two modes: amplitude analyze (MCA Multi-Channel Analyzer) and time scaling (MCS Multi-Channel Scaling).
Typical applications:
- detection and quantitative calculation of radioactive pollution
- spectroscopy measurements in scientific experiments
- student`s nuclear laboratories
- time monitoring of ionized radiation (MCS mode)
Tukan 8k consists of two parts: analyzer and the sophisticated software installed on the PC
The analyzer is produced in two formss:
- Tukan_8k_PCI - the device to be plugged into and IBM PC
- Tukan_8k_USB - the box to be connected to the IBM PC via USB interface
The Tukan 8k software ensures full control of acquisition and analysis of collected data.
Up to 4 Tukan 8k analyzers can be supported simultaneously in one PC.
The Tukan 8k PCI analyzer was developed by a team of engineers employed in Department of Nuclear Radiation Detectors and Electronics of Institute for Nuclear Studies. That team previously developed SWAN analyzer (produced by our Institute and ZAE POLON) and Tukan 4k analyzer (produced by PROFEL enterprise). Both types of analyzer are exploited in numerous places in Poland and abroad: scientific institutes, stations of radioactive pollution detection, students' nuclear laboratories.
The Tukan 8k software performs control of previous Tukan 4k nalyzer and allows maintenance of archive spectra collected by them.
