Mechanism of nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies
It is possible to join a research program aimed at studying the mechanism of nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies (20-40 MeV/nucleon). These studies are based on the research facilities of the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) in Catania: a superconducting heavy-ion cyclotron and a multi-detector array CHIMERA consisting of about 1200 Si-CsI telescopes. The studies are under way as part of a large international collaboration CHIMERA. Warsaw participants of the CHIMERA collaboration from SINS and Warsaw University have initiated and lead some research projects, mostly concentrated on studying the multifragmentation processes, isospin effects and mechanism of energy dissipation in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The doctoral dissertation would be based on the participation in some experiments of the CHIMERA collaboration at LNS Catania and the analysis of these experiments and their interpretation at SINS.
