String theory
String theory is the only reasonably mature framework for unification of all interactions including gravity at the quantum level. It is the natural language in which to address cosmological questions pertaining to the
origin of the universe and its early history. It provides corrections to general relativity both at the quantum and
classical levels. It also places stringent limits on the degrees of freedom relevant at high energies and their interactions.
Typical questions which one would like to study are
- Why do we observe four dimensions?
- What is the origin for inflation and subsequent thermalization of the Universe?
- Does the universe inflate at early times, and if so, is inflation eternal?
- What is the meaning of the multitude of String Theory vacua?
