In High Energy Physics Department of SINS we investigate quark and gluon structure of the proton and neutron using deep-inelastic scattering of high energy muons. Warsaw team of more then 10 people has a long experience in this subject. Experimental data come from COMPASS experiment, which will run for several years in the European laboratory CERN, near Geneva. More then 30 laboratories from Europe, Japan and Israel participate in COMPASS. Such investigations are important and are also carried in the United States and in
Germany.
The main interest of the Warsaw team is to determine how the proton and neutron spin can be constructed using elements of its structure: from the quark and gluon spins and from their angular orbital momenta. Several subjects of PhD theses can be formulated.
